Background

DENN domain containing 2C (DENND2C) acts as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) for Rab GTPases, regulating intracellular vesicle trafficking and membrane dynamics. DENND2C activates Rab9 by facilitating the exchange of GDP for GTP, enabling vesicular transport between late endosomes and the trans-Golgi network. This activity is essential for the sorting and trafficking of lysosomal enzymes and other cargo, maintaining cellular proteostasis.
