Description
Apoptosis regulator protein which may function as a crucial link between cell survival and cell death pathways in mammalian cells. It acts as an inhibitor of TNFRSF6 mediated apoptosis. A proteolytic fragment (p43) is likely retained in the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) thereby blocking further recruitment and processing of caspase-8 at the complex. Full length and shorter isoforms have been shown either to induce apoptosis or to reduce TNFRSF-triggered apoptosis. It lacks enzymatic (caspase) activity.

CASP8 and FADD-like apoptosis regulator (CFLAR), also known as c-FLIP, is an important regulatory protein that modulates apoptosis, particularly in response to death receptor signaling. CFLAR is structurally related to the caspase family but lacks protease activity, allowing it to inhibit caspase-8 activation in the death receptor pathway. By binding to the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC), CFLAR blocks the activation of downstream apoptotic signaling, effectively acting as an inhibitor of apoptosis. This inhibition allows cells to evade cell death, and as such, CFLAR has been implicated in promoting cell survival in various cancers, as well as playing a role in immune responses.

CFLAR Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against CFLAR. The protein encoded by this gene is a regulator of apoptosis and is structurally similar to caspase-8. However, the encoded protein lacks caspase activity and appears to be itself cleaved into two peptides by caspase-8. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene, and partial evidence for several more variants exists.
