Description

BNIP3 Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against BNIP3. This gene is a member of the BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kd-interacting protein (BNIP) family. It interacts with the E1B 19 kDa protein, which protects cells from virally-induced cell death. The encoded protein also interacts with E1B 19 kDa-like sequences of BCL2, another apoptotic protector. This protein contains a BH3 domain and a transmembrane domain, which have been associated with pro-apoptotic function. The dimeric mitochondrial protein encoded by this gene is known to induce apoptosis, even in the presence of BCL2.

Descripción

BCL2 interacting protein 3 (BNIP3) is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family that plays a key role in regulating cell death, particularly in response to cellular stress BNIP3 functions by interacting with anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members, promoting mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization, and facilitating the release of pro-apoptotic factors such as cytochrome c from the mitochondria This release activates the caspase cascade, triggering apoptosis BNIP3 is particularly involved in regulating hypoxia-induced cell death and autophagy, which are essential for cellular adaptation to low oxygen levels and nutrient stress Dysregulation of BNIP3 has been linked to various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, where altered expression of BNIP3 contributes to uncontrolled cell survival, tumor progression, and impaired cellular homeostasis BNIP3's role in mitochondrial function and its involvement in the hypoxic response make it an important factor in regulating cell death and adaptation to environmental stresses
