Background
ABCB9, also known as TAPL (Transporter Associated with Antigen Processing-Like), is an ATP-binding cassette transporter localized to lysosomes and late endosomes. It plays a role in the transport of peptides into lysosomal compartments, contributing to processes such as antigen presentation and lysosomal proteostasis. ABCB9 contains two nucleotide-binding domains and transmembrane regions that mediate ATP-dependent peptide transport. It is expressed in various tissues, with higher levels in immune-related cells, where it supports lysosomal function and immune responses.
