Descripción

ABCF3 is a member of the ABCF subfamily, characterized by its lack of transmembrane domains and its involvement in intracellular processes such as translation regulation and stress response. It is expressed in various tissues, with functions related to ribosomal activity and protein synthesis. ABCF3 is believed to play a role in modulating the translation machinery, particularly under conditions of cellular stress, enabling cells to adapt to adverse environments by selectively synthesizing stress-related proteins. Its role in maintaining protein synthesis is essential for cell survival during environmental challenges, such as oxidative stress or nutrient deprivation. Dysregulation of ABCF3 has been associated with impaired stress tolerance and altered protein homeostasis, which can contribute to pathological conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases or cancer. While its exact molecular mechanisms remain under investigation, ABCF3’s contribution to translation regulation and cellular adaptation highlights its critical role in maintaining cellular integrity and function under both normal and stress conditions.
