Descripción
AGFG2 is structurally similar to AGFG1, containing both an Arf-GAP domain and FG repeats, which enable its role in vesicular trafficking and RNA transport. AGFG2 is particularly important in the context of nuclear export of RNA and is implicated in regulating the intracellular movement of proteins and nucleic acids. It is expressed across a range of tissues but is most prominent in immune cells and the nervous system, where it participates in mRNA processing and cellular signaling. Like AGFG1, AGFG2 is also exploited by certain viruses, including HIV, to facilitate the export of viral RNA, highlighting its role in host-pathogen interactions. Dysregulation of AGFG2 may contribute to defects in RNA processing and trafficking, with potential implications in immune-related diseases and viral infections. Further studies are needed to fully understand its broader physiological and pathological roles.
