Descripción
ACAP3 functions as a GTPase-activating protein for Arf6, a regulator of membrane trafficking and cytoskeletal dynamics. It contains a PH domain, ankyrin repeats, and coiled-coil motifs, facilitating its association with phosphoinositides and Arf proteins. ACAP3 regulates endocytic recycling and membrane ruffling, crucial for migration, polarity, and adhesion. Highly expressed in neurons and epithelial cells, it contributes to dendritic spine formation, synaptic plasticity, and epithelial remodeling. Dysregulation of ACAP3 has been linked to impaired neuronal development and cancer metastasis, highlighting its role in membrane dynamics and signaling critical for cellular function and adaptation.
