Descripción

OXER1, also known as the 5-oxo-ETE receptor, is a G protein-coupled receptor activated by 5-oxo-eicosatetraenoic acid (5-oxo-ETE), a bioactive lipid derived from arachidonic acid metabolism. OXER1 is expressed primarily in leukocytes, including eosinophils, neutrophils, and macrophages, where it mediates pro-inflammatory and chemotactic responses. Activation of OXER1 triggers pathways such as PI3K/Akt and MAPK, promoting immune cell migration, cytokine production, and oxidative stress responses. OXER1 plays a crucial role in allergic inflammation, asthma, and other eosinophilic diseases, where it contributes to immune cell recruitment to inflamed tissues. In cancer, OXER1 is implicated in tumor progression and metastasis, particularly in prostate and breast cancers, where 5-oxo-ETE signaling enhances cell proliferation and survival. Dysregulation of OXER1 has also been associated with cardiovascular diseases and chronic inflammatory conditions. Given its roles in inflammation and cancer, OXER1 is considered a promising therapeutic target for managing eosinophilic disorders, chronic inflammation, and tumor progression.
