Descripción
Myomesin 3 (MYOM3) is a more recently characterized member of the myomesin family, sharing structural and functional similarities with MYOM1 and MYOM2. While MYOM3 is expressed in both skeletal and cardiac muscles, its specific roles and regulatory mechanisms are less understood. MYOM3 likely contributes to M-band stability and sarcomeric organization, complementing the functions of MYOM1 and MYOM2. Emerging evidence suggests MYOM3 may also have specialized roles in muscle repair and adaptation, particularly in response to mechanical strain or injury. Together, the myomesin family underscores the intricate molecular machinery required to sustain muscle structure and function under diverse physiological conditions.
