Description
Receptor for extracellular ATP > UTP and ADP. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. May be the cardiac P2Y receptor involved in the regulation of cardiac muscle contraction through modulation of L-type calcium currents. Is a receptor for leukotriene B4, a potent chemoattractant involved in inflammation and immune response.

Descripción
LTB4R, also known as BLT1, is a high-affinity G protein-coupled receptor for leukotriene B4 (LTB4), a potent lipid mediator derived from arachidonic acid. It is predominantly expressed on immune cells, such as neutrophils, monocytes, and T cells, where it regulates inflammatory responses and immune cell recruitment. Upon LTB4 binding, LTB4R activates downstream signaling pathways, including PI3K/Akt and MAPK, which promote chemotaxis, cytokine production, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation. LTB4R plays a critical role in acute and chronic inflammation, contributing to diseases such as asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In cancer, LTB4R has been linked to tumor progression and metastasis by enhancing immune cell infiltration and angiogenesis within the tumor microenvironment. Dysregulated LTB4R signaling is also implicated in cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Therapeutically, LTB4R antagonists are being developed to treat inflammatory and immune-mediated diseases by suppressing leukotriene B4-mediated responses, making it a key target for inflammation modulation.
