Description

Acts as one of several non-catalytic accessory components of the cytoplasmic dynein 1 complex that are thought to be involved in linking dynein to cargos and to adapter proteins that regulate dynein function. Cytoplasmic dynein 1 acts as a motor for the intracellular retrograde motility of vesicles and organelles along microtubules. May play a role in changing or maintaining the spatial distribution of cytoskeletal structures(By similarity).

Descripción

Dynein light chain 2, cytoplasmic (DYNLL2) is a protein that plays a vital role in regulating the function of the dynein motor complex, a key molecular motor involved in the transport of cellular cargo along microtubules in the cytoplasm DYNLL2, as a light chain component, helps stabilize the dynein complex and is involved in intracellular processes such as vesicle trafficking, organelle positioning, and mitotic spindle formation During cell division, DYNLL2 is required for the proper organization of the mitotic spindle and the movement of chromosomes, ensuring accurate cell division Additionally, DYNLL2 is implicated in regulating the actin cytoskeleton and modulating cellular signaling pathways, such as those involved in apoptosis and stress responses Dysregulation of DYNLL2 has been linked to various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders, where impaired intracellular transport and organelle dysfunction contribute to neuronal damage DYNLL2’s essential roles in intracellular transport, cell cycle regulation, and cellular signaling make it crucial for maintaining normal cellular function and homeostasis
