Does not exhibit calcium-activated chloride channel(CaCC) activity. Can inhibit the activity of ANO1.
ANO10 is a member of the anoctamin family but is distinct from other family members in its function and expression patterns. ANO10 has been implicated in cellular processes such as lipid metabolism, membrane trafficking, and calcium signaling. It is primarily expressed in the nervous system and has been linked to neurodegenerative disorders. Mutations in the ANO10 gene are associated with spinocerebellar ataxia type 10 (SCA10), a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by gait imbalance, ataxia, and cerebellar dysfunction. ANO10's role in maintaining neuronal integrity and its involvement in calcium-regulated signaling highlight its importance in the normal function of the central nervous system. Dysregulation or mutation can lead to impaired neuronal signaling and degeneration.
