Descripción
ACAP2, a GTPase-activating protein for Arf proteins, regulates vesicular trafficking and membrane remodeling. Its PH domain, ankyrin repeats, and coiled-coil motifs facilitate interactions with phospholipids and proteins. ACAP2 is involved in endocytic recycling, actin cytoskeleton dynamics, and signaling pathways, particularly in neurons where it supports synaptic plasticity and neurotransmission by trafficking vesicles and receptors. It also regulates cell migration and polarity, aiding tissue development and repair. Dysregulation of ACAP2 has been associated with neurodegenerative diseases and cancer metastasis, reflecting its essential role in maintaining cellular trafficking and structural integrity.
