Descripción
Alanyl-tRNA Synthetase Domain Containing 1 (AARSD1) is a mitochondrial protein involved in the synthesis of alanyl-tRNA, which is essential for the translation of mitochondrial-encoded proteins. It catalyzes the attachment of alanine to its corresponding tRNA, ensuring proper protein synthesis for mitochondrial function and energy production. AARSD1 is critical for mitochondrial biogenesis and oxidative phosphorylation, and mutations in the AARSD1 gene can lead to mitochondrial dysfunction, resulting in metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, or myopathies. Emerging studies suggest that AARSD1 also plays a role in cellular stress responses and may influence processes such as apoptosis and adaptive mitochondrial dynamics.
