Descripción
ANO8, or TMEM16H, is a calcium-activated protein implicated in ion transport and membrane-related processes such as phospholipid scrambling and signal transduction. While its precise biological functions are not fully elucidated, ANO8 is expressed in various tissues, including the liver and immune system, where it is believed to regulate cellular signaling and calcium homeostasis. ANO8 may play roles in immune cell activation and lipid metabolism, contributing to cellular responses under stress or during inflammation. Dysregulation or mutations in ANO8 have been tentatively linked to metabolic disorders and immune dysfunctions, although further studies are needed to confirm its molecular mechanisms and physiological relevance.
