Background
ABTB1 is a multifunctional protein characterized by ankyrin repeat and BTB/POZ domains, which facilitate protein-protein interactions and contribute to its role as an adaptor in cellular signaling pathways. It is involved in regulating processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation by interacting with key signaling molecules, including those in the tumor suppressor p53 pathway. ABTB1 is widely expressed in various tissues and is thought to modulate transcriptional responses and cellular stress reactions. It has been implicated in the regulation of cellular growth and survival, particularly under conditions of oxidative stress or DNA damage. Dysregulation of ABTB1 has been linked to cancer progression and other disorders involving disrupted signaling pathways. Its ability to interact with multiple partners highlights its importance as a molecular scaffold in maintaining cellular homeostasis.
