Descripción

ANAPC16 is a structural and functional subunit of the Anaphase-Promoting Complex/Cyclosome (APC/C), where it contributes to the stability and assembly of the complex. ANAPC16 interacts with other core subunits to provide a scaffold for the APC/C, supporting its function as a critical E3 ubiquitin ligase during mitosis. It is involved in the targeting and ubiquitination of key regulators, including cyclin B, securin, and other proteins required for chromosome segregation and mitotic exit. ANAPC16 ensures proper APC/C activation and substrate recruitment, maintaining the progression of the cell cycle. Disruption or mutation of ANAPC16 leads to mitotic defects, genomic instability, and impaired cell proliferation, which are hallmarks of cancer development. ANAPC16’s role as a structural stabilizer underscores its importance in APC/C-mediated proteolysis and cell cycle progression.
