Descripción

AIMP2 is a structural and regulatory protein that stabilizes the multi-aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase complex (MSC) and modulates various cellular processes, including translation, stress responses, and cell cycle regulation. AIMP2 interacts with other aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases to ensure the efficient attachment of amino acids to their corresponding tRNAs. In addition to its translational role, AIMP2 functions as a tumor suppressor, particularly through its isoform AIMP2-DX2, which inhibits cell proliferation and induces apoptosis. Dysregulation of AIMP2 is implicated in cancers, where loss of its tumor-suppressive activity promotes tumor growth and chemoresistance. It is also involved in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, where it modulates oxidative stress and neuronal survival. AIMP2’s role in both protein synthesis and cellular homeostasis underscores its importance in health and disease.
