Descripción

AMIGO3 is a member of the AMIGO family that primarily functions in cell adhesion, neuronal development, and cell survival signaling. It is expressed in the central nervous system, where it regulates axon guidance and myelination during neural development. AMIGO3 interacts with other adhesion molecules and extracellular ligands to modulate axon extension and fasciculation, contributing to the formation of functional neural networks. Beyond its role in neural development, AMIGO3 has been implicated in promoting neuronal apoptosis in response to injury or stress, particularly in neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative conditions. It has also been linked to tumor progression, where it enhances cancer cell survival, migration, and invasion. AMIGO3 is involved in activating signaling pathways such as NF-κB and PI3K/AKT, which support cell survival and inflammatory responses. Its involvement in both neural apoptosis and cancer progression highlights AMIGO3 as a critical player in cellular signaling pathways related to survival and disease.
