Descripción

ADGRL1, also known as Latrophilin-1, is a member of the adhesion GPCR family prominently expressed in neuronal and endothelial tissues. It plays a vital role in synapse formation, organization, and maintenance by mediating trans-synaptic adhesion through interactions with partners such as teneurins. These interactions are crucial for establishing proper neural wiring and connectivity, particularly in the central nervous system. In addition to its neural roles, ADGRL1 contributes to endothelial cell adhesion and communication, promoting vascular stability and angiogenesis. Its ability to interact with multiple extracellular matrix proteins underscores its role in maintaining structural and functional integrity within tissues. Dysregulation of ADGRL1 has been implicated in a variety of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders and epilepsy, as well as in vascular dysfunctions and cancer progression, highlighting its importance in both neural and systemic physiology.
