Descripción

Members of this family exhibit elongated N-termini and harbor multiple functional domains. They are implicated in immune system functions and central nervous system activities. Through alternative splicing, numerous transcript variants are generated, encoding diverse isoforms. ADGRG6, or GPR126, is a key player in Schwann cell development, peripheral nerve myelination, and vascular formation. It is widely expressed in endothelial cells and nervous tissues, where it regulates angiogenesis and nerve repair. Mutations in ADGRG6 are linked to conditions such as arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, a congenital joint contracture disorder. ADGRG6 also has implications in tumor angiogenesis, making it a target for cancer research and regenerative therapies.
