Background

Members of this family exhibit elongated N-termini and harbor multiple functional domains. They are implicated in immune system functions and central nervous system activities. Through alternative splicing, numerous transcript variants are generated, encoding diverse isoforms. ADGRG2, or GPR64, is predominantly expressed in the male reproductive tract, particularly in the epididymis, and is thought to regulate sperm maturation. It also exhibits expression in other tissues, such as the kidney, suggesting broader physiological roles. ADGRG2 contributes to fluid absorption and regulation of ciliary activity.
