Descripción

ADGRE2, or EMR2, is an adhesion GPCR expressed on myeloid cells, including monocytes, macrophages, and eosinophils, where it modulates immune responses and cellular adhesion. Its structure includes multiple extracellular EGF-like domains that enable interactions with ligands and the extracellular matrix. ADGRE2 is involved in processes such as cell migration, adhesion, and activation during inflammatory and immune responses. Mutations in ADGRE2 have been linked to vibratory urticaria, a rare inherited disorder characterized by hives triggered by mechanical vibrations, suggesting its role in mechanosensation and immune cell activation. The receptor’s involvement in eosinophil-mediated responses also points to potential roles in allergic diseases and eosinophilic inflammation.
