Background

ACTRT3, also known as Arp-T3, is a specialized actin-related protein involved in cytoskeletal regulation and intracellular trafficking. Structurally, ACTRT3 possesses actin-like ATP-binding domains, but its ability to form filaments is limited. It is primarily expressed in tissues requiring high cytoskeletal plasticity, such as the brain, where it regulates neuronal migration and synaptic function. ACTRT3 interacts with actin-binding proteins to modulate actin remodeling. Deficiencies or mutations in ACTRT3 are linked to defects in neurodevelopment and cellular morphology due to impaired cytoskeletal organization.
