Background
Actin Filament Associated Protein 1 Like 2 (AFAP1L2), also known as XB130, is another member of the AFAP family implicated in actin filament dynamics and signal transduction. It functions as an adaptor protein, coordinating interactions between cytoskeletal elements and signaling pathways involved in cell growth, survival, and migration. AFAP1L2 is highly expressed in epithelial tissues and is linked to inflammatory responses and cancer progression. It also plays a role in regulating apoptosis and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), processes critical for tissue remodeling and tumorigenesis.
