Background

ACTA1 encodes for actin alpha 1, a protein that is a key component of the thin filaments in skeletal muscle. ACTA1 is a protein that plays a crucial role in muscle formation and function. In response to these stimuli, committed cells such as satellite cells undergo fusion to form myotubes, which eventually mature into muscle fibers.
