Descripción
HTR1B, a subtype of the serotonin receptor family, is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) responsible for mediating the effects of serotonin (5-HT), a neurotransmitter involved in mood, aggression, appetite, and sleep regulation. HTR1B is primarily expressed in the basal ganglia, hippocampus, cortex, and dorsal raphe nucleus, where it functions as both a presynaptic autoreceptor and a postsynaptic receptor. As an autoreceptor, HTR1B inhibits the release of serotonin, thereby regulating its availability at synapses. This negative feedback mechanism is critical for maintaining serotonin homeostasis and preventing overstimulation of neurons. HTR1B also modulates the release of other neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and acetylcholine, contributing to its role in motor control, mood stabilization, and reward pathways. Dysregulation of HTR1B has been implicated in mood disorders, such as depression, anxiety, and aggressive behaviors, as well as conditions like migraine headaches and substance abuse disorders. Pharmacological targeting of HTR1B, particularly through agonists or antagonists, has shown potential in alleviating symptoms of depression, migraine, and other serotonin-related disorders. Its role in modulating synaptic plasticity, neuroprotection, and neuronal signaling makes HTR1B a critical target for understanding and treating neuropsychiatric conditions.

5-Hydroxytryptamine Receptor 1B (HTR1B) Antibody
The neurotransmitter serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT) exerts a wide variety of physiologic functions through a multiplicity of receptors and may be involved in human neuropsychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, or migraine. These receptors consist of several main groups subdivided into several distinct subtypes on the basis of their pharmacologic characteristics, coupling to intracellular second messengers, and distribution within the nervous system (Zifa and Fillion, 1992 [PubMed 1359584]). The serotonergic receptors belong to the multigene family of receptors coupled to guanine nucleotide-binding proteins.
