Description

YWHAB Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against YWHAB. This gene encodes a protein belonging to the 14-3-3 family of proteins, members of which mediate signal transduction by binding to phosphoserine-containing proteins. This highly conserved protein family is found in both plants and mammals. The encoded protein has been shown to interact with RAF1 and CDC25 phosphatases, suggesting that it may play a role in linking mitogenic signaling and the cell cycle machinery. Two transcript variants, which encode the same protein, have been identified for this gene.

Descripción

YWHAB, part of the 14-3-3 protein family, functions as a scaffold protein that binds to phosphorylated serine/threonine-containing motifs, regulating protein localization, stability, and signaling pathways. It is involved in processes such as cell cycle control, DNA damage response, apoptosis, and stress adaptation by interacting with key signaling proteins, including Raf kinases, BAD, and CDC25. YWHAB regulates pathways like MAPK and PI3K/Akt, influencing cellular growth, survival, and metabolism. It is ubiquitously expressed, with high levels in the brain, where it contributes to synaptic plasticity, neuroprotection, and neuronal development. Dysregulation of YWHAB has been associated with neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, as well as cancer, where altered protein interactions promote tumor survival and metastasis. Knockout studies show defects in cellular proliferation, increased apoptosis, and impaired stress responses, highlighting its role in maintaining cellular stability and signaling balance.

Adapter protein implicated in the regulation of a large spectrum of both general and specialized signaling pathways. Binds to a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif. Binding generally results in the modulation of the activity of the binding partner. Negative regulator of osteogenesis. Blocks the nuclear translocation of the phosphorylated form(by AKT1) of SRPK2 and antagonizes its stimulatory effect on cyclin D1 expression resulting in blockage of neuronal apoptosis elicited by SRPK2. Negative regulator of signaling cascades that mediate activatation of MAP kinases via AKAP13.
