Background

AGPAT1 is a key enzyme in the phospholipid biosynthesis pathway, catalyzing the conversion of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) to phosphatidic acid (PA) by acylating the sn-2 position of LPA. Structurally, AGPAT1 is an integral membrane protein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), where it participates in the synthesis of phospholipids and triglycerides. It plays an essential role in cell membrane formation, lipid signaling, and energy storage. AGPAT1 is ubiquitously expressed and is critical for maintaining cellular lipid homeostasis.
