Descripción
UBX domain protein 10 (UBXN10) is a member of the UBX domain-containing protein family, which interacts with p97/VCP to regulate protein degradation and cellular quality control processes UBXN10 acts as a cofactor for p97, facilitating the extraction and turnover of ubiquitinated proteins during ER-associated degradation (ERAD) and other proteasome-dependent pathways It plays a critical role in maintaining protein homeostasis and stress responses in the endoplasmic reticulum Dysregulation of UBXN10 expression has been linked to cellular stress and apoptotic pathways, where it influences p97’s activity and protein clearance Emerging studies suggest a role for UBXN10 in cellular differentiation, particularly in tissues with high protein synthesis demands, such as skeletal muscle and the immune system UBXN10 is also implicated in cancer progression, where altered protein degradation pathways support tumor survival and resistance to therapy Its function in regulating proteostasis highlights its importance in maintaining cellular quality control and response to proteotoxic stress
