Background

TNFSF14, also known as LIGHT (Lymphotoxin-like, exhibits inducible expression, competes with herpes simplex virus glycoprotein D for HVEM, a receptor expressed by T lymphocytes), is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. This ligand is pivotal in immune response modulation and is highly expressed by activated T cells, NK (natural killer) cells, and certain myeloid cells. LIGHT interacts with several receptors, including HVEM (Herpes Virus Entry Mediator), LTβR (Lymphotoxin beta receptor), and DcR3 (Decoy receptor 3), each playing a distinct role in immune signaling pathways.
