APCS Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against APCS. The protein encoded by this gene is a glycoprotein, belonging to the pentraxin family of proteins, which has a characteristic pentameric organization. These family members have considerable sequence homology which is thought to be the result of gene duplication. The binding of the encoded protein to proteins in the pathological amyloid cross-beta fold suggests its possible role as a chaperone. This protein is also thought to control the degradation of chromatin. It has been demonstrated that this protein binds to apoptotic cells at an early stage, which raises the possibility that it is involved in dealing with apoptotic cells in vivo. Background
SAP, also known as PTX2, belongs to the pentraxin family. Has the ability to bind ligands in a calcium-dependent manner and its unique flattened β-jellyroll structure, which bears resemblance to the structure found in legume lectins. APCS is its human gene.SAP is exclusively produced in the liver, and as a standard plasma protein, it is naturally present in all individuals. While it enters the brain in only minuscule quantities under normal conditions, it is consistently found in the cerebrospinal fluid. AP possesses the capacity to bind to both amyloid plaques and tau tangles, effectively stabilizing and stabilise aggregates by preventing proteolytic cleavage and hence inhibiting fibril removal. Background
SAP, también conocida como PTX2, pertenece a la familia de las pentraxinas. Tiene la capacidad de unirse a ligandos de una manera dependiente del calcio y su estructura única de β-jellyroll aplanada, que se parece a la estructura que se encuentra en las lectinas de las leguminosas. APCS es su gen humano. La SAP se produce exclusivamente en el hígado y, como proteína plasmática estándar, está presente de forma natural en todos los individuos.
