Mouse Serum Amyloid P Protein is a recombinant protein from Mouse produced in HEK293 Cells. A DNA sequence encoding the mouse APCS (NP_035448.2) (Met 1-Glu 224) precursor was expressed with a C-terminal polyhistidine tag.
SAP, also known as PTX2, belongs to the pentraxin family. Has the ability to bind ligands in a calcium-dependent manner and its unique flattened β-jellyroll structure, which bears resemblance to the structure found in legume lectins. APCS is its human gene.SAP is exclusively produced in the liver, and as a standard plasma protein, it is naturally present in all individuals. While it enters the brain in only minuscule quantities under normal conditions, it is consistently found in the cerebrospinal fluid. AP possesses the capacity to bind to both amyloid plaques and tau tangles, effectively stabilizing and stabilise aggregates by preventing proteolytic cleavage and hence inhibiting fibril removal. It ia also known as: APCS, PTX2, SAP, AP, Amyloid P Component
