Background

ACTR8, also known as ARP8, is a nuclear actin-related protein that functions within the INO80 chromatin remodeling complex. It plays a critical role in ATP-dependent nucleosome remodeling, facilitating DNA repair, replication, and transcriptional regulation. Structurally, ACTR8 resembles actin but interacts specifically with chromatin and ATPase subunits. ACTR8 is vital for genomic stability, particularly in response to DNA double-strand breaks. Dysregulation of ACTR8 impairs chromatin organization and has been implicated in tumorigenesis and other genomic disorders.
