Background

ACTA1 encodes for actin alpha 1, a protein that is a key component of the thin filaments in skeletal muscle. ACTA1 is a protein that plays a crucial role in muscle formation and function. Its expression is induced by various stimuli and conditions that promote muscle development. In response to these stimuli, committed cells such as satellite cells undergo fusion to form myotubes, which eventually mature into muscle fibers.
