Note | Validity: The validity for this kit is 6 months. This product is for research use only. The range and sensitivity is subject to change. Please contact us for the latest product information. For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein. |
Descripción
Taste Receptor Type 2 Member 116 (TAS2R116) functions as a bitter taste receptor responsible for detecting specific bitter-tasting molecules. Its primary localization in gustatory cells enables it to participate in the body’s first line of defense against the ingestion of harmful substances. TAS2R116 is activated upon binding to bitter ligands, initiating a signal transduction pathway mediated by G-proteins and resulting in the perception of bitterness. Research suggests that TAS2R116 is not limited to taste buds but also plays roles in extra-oral locations, such as the lungs and gut, where it contributes to airway smooth muscle relaxation and microbial defense mechanisms. Genetic polymorphisms in TAS2R116 are associated with variations in bitter taste sensitivity among individuals, with implications for diet, medication tolerability, and metabolic health.
