Descripción
ROBO1 (Roundabout Guidance Receptor 1) is a key transmembrane protein implicated in axon guidance during neural development, where it functions as a receptor for Slit family proteins. Through its interaction with Slit ligands, ROBO1 mediates axonal repulsion, which is critical for establishing neural circuits and ensuring proper brain organization. It is also involved in regulating cell migration, particularly in processes such as angiogenesis and tumorigenesis, by modulating cytoskeletal dynamics. Dysregulation or mutations in ROBO1 have been associated with neurological disorders and cancer progression, emphasizing its significance in both developmental and pathological contexts.
