Descripción
LRFN1 is a neuronal transmembrane protein characterized by leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domains and fibronectin type III (FNIII) domains, which facilitate protein-protein interactions. It is primarily expressed in the central nervous system (CNS), where it plays a role in neuronal differentiation, synaptic organization, and axon guidance. LRFN1 interacts with other cell surface and extracellular matrix proteins, contributing to the structural integrity and connectivity of neural circuits. Dysregulation of LRFN1 has been associated with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
