Descripción
IGSF1 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, predominantly expressed in the pituitary gland, testes, and other endocrine tissues. Structurally, it contains multiple immunoglobulin (Ig)-like domains that mediate protein-protein interactions and signal transduction. IGSF1 is involved in hormonal regulation, particularly in controlling thyroid hormone secretion and pubertal development. Mutations in the IGSF1 gene are associated with IGSF1 deficiency syndrome, characterized by central hypothyroidism, delayed puberty, and reduced testicular size. Its role in endocrine regulation highlights its importance in growth, metabolism, and reproduction.
