Descripción
Fibroblast growth factor receptor substrate 3 (FRS3) is another adaptor protein involved in FGFR signaling pathways. Like FRS2, FRS3 becomes tyrosine-phosphorylated upon FGFR activation and serves as a scaffold for the assembly of signaling complexes. FRS3 interacts with various signaling proteins, including Grb2 and Sos, to activate the Ras/MAPK pathway, promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. Although FRS3 shares functional similarities with FRS2, it is known for its distinct tissue distribution and specific engagement with particular FGFR isoforms. These unique interactions suggest that FRS3 may play specialized roles in certain biological contexts. FRS3's involvement in FGFR signaling also links it to developmental processes and pathological conditions such as cancer. Understanding FRS3's unique contributions to FGFR signaling can provide insights into its potential as a therapeutic target in diseases involving aberrant FGFR activity.
