For accurate results, sample concentrations must be diluted to mid-range of the kit. If you require a specific range, please contact us in advance or write your request in your order comments. Please note that our ELISA and CLIA kits are optimised for detection of native samples, rather than recombinant proteins. We are unable to guarantee detection of recombinant proteins, as they may have different sequences or tertiary structures to the native protein. |
Descripción
Aldo-Keto Reductase Family 1 Member B7 (AKR1B7) is an enzyme belonging to the aldo-keto reductase superfamily, which catalyzes the reduction of aldehydes and ketones to their corresponding alcohols. AKR1B7 is primarily expressed in adrenal glands, kidneys, and other steroidogenic tissues, where it plays a significant role in detoxifying reactive aldehydes and regulating lipid and steroid metabolism. It is also involved in the detoxification of lipid peroxidation byproducts, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining cellular redox balance. In addition to its metabolic functions, AKR1B7 has been implicated in the biosynthesis of bile acids and steroid hormones by modulating intermediate metabolite levels. Dysregulation of AKR1B7 has been associated with metabolic disorders and certain cancers, where altered lipid metabolism contributes to disease progression. AKR1B7 is gaining attention as a potential biomarker for oxidative stress and metabolic diseases, and it represents a promising therapeutic target in conditions where lipid peroxidation and redox imbalance play critical roles.
