ADAMTS4, also known as A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase with Thrombospondin Motifs 4, is a member of the ADAMTS protein family. ADAMTS4 contains multiple domains, including a metalloproteinase domain responsible for its enzymatic activity, as well as thrombospondin type-1 (TSP-1) motifs. ADAMTS4 is primarily known for its role in extracellular matrix remodeling, particularly in the breakdown of aggrecan, a large proteoglycan found in cartilage.
