Descripción

RAB3B, member RAS oncogene family (RAB3B) is a small GTPase that is part of the RAS superfamily, involved in regulating vesicular trafficking, membrane dynamics, and cellular signaling RAB3B is particularly important in the release of neurotransmitters and hormones, as it plays a key role in synaptic vesicle recycling and exocytosis In neurons, RAB3B helps control the fusion of synaptic vesicles with the plasma membrane, allowing for neurotransmitter release and communication between nerve cells Similarly, RAB3B is involved in hormone secretion, such as insulin release in pancreatic beta cells Its dysregulation can lead to neurological disorders, including epilepsy, and endocrine disorders such as diabetes, where improper vesicular trafficking impairs neurotransmitter and hormone release Furthermore, RAB3B has been linked to some types of cancer, where its abnormal activity may contribute to tumorigenesis and metastasis due to altered vesicular dynamics
