RAB21, member RAS oncogene family (RAB21) is a small GTPase that regulates vesicle trafficking between endosomes and the plasma membrane, playing a crucial role in the recycling of cell surface receptors and other membrane proteins RAB21 is involved in processes such as integrin trafficking, which is essential for maintaining cell adhesion, migration, and the integrity of cell junctions It is particularly important in regulating the transport and recycling of receptors that control cellular signaling, helping to ensure proper receptor availability on the cell surface for growth factor signaling and immune response Additionally, RAB21 contributes to the regulation of cellular polarity and the organization of the actin cytoskeleton, which is essential for processes like cell migration and tissue remodeling RAB21’s dysfunction is linked to diseases such as cancer, where alterations in receptor trafficking and integrin function contribute to metastasis and tumor progression Moreover, RAB21 plays a role in immune function, where defects in vesicular trafficking can impact immune receptor trafficking, affecting immune responses and inflammation
