Descripción

PTPRB is a member of the receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatases (RPTPs), which regulate tyrosine phosphorylation-dependent signaling. PTPRB plays an essential role in vascular development and endothelial cell function. It has an extracellular domain, a transmembrane region, and two intracellular phosphatase domains, of which one is enzymatically active. PTPRB is expressed predominantly in endothelial cells and modulates vascular permeability, angiogenesis, and blood vessel remodeling. It is involved in suppressing VEGF receptor signaling to maintain endothelial quiescence. Dysregulation of PTPRB has been implicated in diseases such as vascular malformations and cancers involving aberrant angiogenesis.
