Description
PDGFRL bears significant sequence similarity to the ligand binding domain of platelet-derived growth factor receptor beta. Mutations in the PDGFRL gene, or deletion of a chromosomal segment containing this gene, are associated with sporadic hepatocellular carcinomas, colorectal cancers, and non-small cell lung cancers. This suggests PDGFRL may function as a tumor suppressor.

Descripción
Platelet derived growth factor receptor like (PDGFRL) lacks intrinsic kinase activity and is thought to function in the regulation of extracellular matrix components and intercellular communication although its precise role is less defined compared to PDGFRA and PDGFRB mutations in PDGFRL have been linked to tumor suppressor activity in colorectal and gastric cancers suggesting it may act as a modulator of growth factor signaling networks its reduced expression has been correlated with increased tumor invasiveness and metastasis in some cancers indicating its potential importance in maintaining cellular homeostasis ongoing research seeks to clarify its role in cellular signaling and its impact on cancer progression and therapeutic resistance.
