Descripción
Palladin, cytoskeletal associated protein (PALLD) is a pivotal component of the cytoskeleton, playing a vital role in the organization, dynamics, and stability of actin filament networks within the cell. It acts as a scaffolding protein that binds directly to actin and other actin-associated proteins, thus facilitating the formation of stress fibers, lamellipodia, and other cellular structures critical for migration and adhesion. Palladin is especially active during developmental processes, tissue repair, and cancer metastasis, where enhanced cellular motility and structural remodeling are required. Mutations or dysregulation of PALLD have been linked to diseases such as cancer progression and certain connective tissue disorders, making it a key focus of cellular and molecular biology research.
