Nuclear receptor subfamily 4 group A member 2 (NR4A2), also known as NURR1, is a nuclear receptor that plays a critical role in the development and maintenance of the central nervous system, particularly in dopaminergic neurons NR4A2 is expressed in areas of the brain involved in movement, such as the substantia nigra, and it regulates the expression of genes involved in the differentiation and survival of dopaminergic neurons NR4A2 is crucial for the proper functioning of the brain's motor control system and has been implicated in the pathophysiology of neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, where dopaminergic neuron degeneration leads to motor deficits In addition to its role in the nervous system, NR4A2 also modulates immune responses and inflammation, making it important in the regulation of neuroinflammation Dysregulation of NR4A2 expression has been associated with neurodegeneration and psychiatric disorders, and it represents a potential therapeutic target for Parkinson's disease and other neurological conditions
