Description
CHRM1 Antibody is a Rabbit Polyclonal antibody against CHRM1. The muscarinic cholinergic receptors belong to a larger family of G protein-coupled receptors. The functional diversity of these receptors is defined by the binding of acetylcholine and includes cellular responses such as adenylate cyclase inhibition, phosphoinositide degeneration, and potassium channel mediation. Muscarinic receptors influence many effects of acetylcholine in the central and peripheral nervous system. The muscarinic cholinergic receptor 1 is involved in mediation of vagally-induced bronchoconstriction and in the acid secretion of the gastrointestinal tract. Descripción
CHRM1 encodes the cholinergic receptor muscarinic 1, which is a member of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor family. These receptors are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that mediate the actions of acetylcholine, a key neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral tissues. CHRM1 is primarily expressed in the cerebral cortex, hippocampus, and basal ganglia, playing an essential role in cognitive processes such as learning, memory, and attention. Activation of CHRM1 leads to the stimulation of phospholipase C (PLC) via Gq/11 proteins, which increases intracellular calcium ion concentration and activates protein kinase C (PKC). Dysregulation of CHRM1 has been associated with neurological and psychiatric disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, and epilepsy. Pharmacologically, CHRM1 agonists enhance cognitive function, while antagonists can alleviate conditions like muscle spasms and excessive salivation.
