Descripción
TMIGD1 (Transmembrane and Immunoglobulin Domain Containing 1) is a cell adhesion molecule prominently expressed in renal epithelial cells and involved in maintaining tissue integrity and cellular polarity. TMIGD1 plays a protective role in kidney epithelial cells by promoting survival signals and mitigating oxidative stress. It regulates cell adhesion by interacting with cytoskeletal proteins, ensuring the stability of intercellular junctions. Dysregulation of TMIGD1 has been implicated in renal pathologies, particularly in conditions characterized by epithelial dysfunction, such as chronic kidney disease. Its potential therapeutic targeting focuses on restoring epithelial barrier integrity and preventing renal injury.
